Up a Stump
 
 

It was the oldest daughter’s job in the Stone family to gather eggs from geese, ducks and chickens on the farm. The gander would chase her, Jason’s wife related, and she would then jump up on a stump and yell for help. So much of what Willard did was from his childhood or his children’s childhood and from his Cherokee heritage, she added.
